BlockchainNZ’s 2020 wrap up

#

The festive season is almost upon us but blockchain developments do not show any sign of slowing. Recent blockchain adoption and development include:

  • Bermuda’s plan to create a stable coin
  • blockchain’s continued use in supply chains, both within New Zealand and internationally.

Details on these stories and more below.

Last week, the Data Intelligence Special Interest Group held a session in Wellington on blockchain and how it can improve operational effectiveness. Ann Ibrahim, one of our Executive Council board members, attended and reported back. The key takeaways were:

  • blockchain involves not just the decentralization of data but also the decentralization of business logic
  • like everything, Blockchain comes with risks, but these risks can be mitigated.

As 2020 draws to a close, your calendars are probably filling up! But don’t forget our virtual drinks on Tuesday 1 December from 5.30 – 7.30pm. It will be a great opportunity to meet the Executive Council and participate informally in group discussions (plus you could also win a prize!). Hope to see you there.

Nga mihi nui,

Alex Sims on behalf of the team at BlockChainNZ
