Otago Blockchain Meetup

29 August, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Welcome to the first Otago Blockchain Meetup. Hosted in coordination with students from the University of Otago, this event will be the first of many aimed at creating a thriving blockchain community in Dunedin and increasing awareness and understanding of this revolutionary new technology.

Are you interested in cryptocurrencies, fintech, blockchain technology or decentralised computing? Curious about Bitcoin, Ether or altcoins? Come along, bring your questions, and meet others with the same interests!

Speaking at the event will be Liesl Eichholz, a policy analyst, writer and researcher at ConsenSys, the world’s largest blockchain venture production studio. She is also on the committee of the Blockchain Association of New Zealand, and is writing her LLM thesis on the regulation of blockchain tech in NZ (based in Auckland but through the University of Otago).

Liesl will be able to answer your questions about blockchains, including how the techology works, where/how to buy cryptocurrencies, how to store them securely, and how to get further involved in the blockchain community and/or industry.

RSVP for the event here.

What is the blockchain?

Blockchain is the first successfully tested distributed ledger technology. The technology is a catalyst for the Age of Decentralisation, paving the way for business models that have not been possible before. It is providing us with new opportunities for human achievement.
