SUMMARY:DAOs & DeFi - New ways to Coordinate Society
DESCRIPTION:Both financial & governance systems around the world are in incredibly questionable states. Looking towards future technologies like blockchain\, tokenisation & distributed governance as solutions gaining substantial traction & beginning to make impact on these questions. \nAxia Labs has been leading cryptoeconomic & governance discussions in the blockchain space globally and is now bringing the bleeding edge of DAO (decentralized autonomous organisation) and DeFi (Decentralized Finance) research to events in Christchurch\, Wellington & Auckland from the 2nd to the 5th of December. \nHear from James Waugh – Founder of Axia Labs and deep blockchain native. James has spent the past 5 years immersed in the blockchain space and has built an incredible level of context throughout this. More recently\, he has spent the majority of 2019 in Europe\, Asia and the US attending and speaking at conferences and events on the potential of cryptoeconomic systems to bring greater transparency and equality to fundamentally outdated governance systems across almost all levels of organisation. \nAnd Mark Pascall – One of the core drivers behind BlockchainNZ\, a group which advocates for the advantages and potential of blockchain technology within New Zealand. Mark has been the face of blockchain in New Zealand for a number of years and had recently been conducting large amounts of research into DAOs and governance in the context of blockchain based systems. Mark will be discussing his more recent experience of working for these new organisations and his journey with TheDAO.agency and how we as a country have an opportunity to become global leaders in implementing this technology across many levels of governance. \nThis event is proudly supported by the Blockchain Association of New Zealand and aims to develop the understanding of this technology among business leaders\, aspiring technologists\, start-ups & decision makers across New Zealand. \nAs well as MetaCartel\, a grass roots collective of the Ethereum community\, looking to fund & empower layer 2 applications & products within the blockchain space. \nAgenda for the evening will be as follows: \n6pm – 6:30pm: Registration & Networking \n6:30pm – 6:45pm: Introductions \n6:45pm – 8pm: Presentations + Q&A \n8pm – 9pm: Networking\, light snacks & drinks
